This is my Village ......
Bush and bamboo built huts
With the rich mud made houses
Stream sharing territory with people
Naked children happily running down the street
Clayed pot on the head to fetch water
Students bare footed to their only village school
Coming back to help papa tilt the ground
Super came in a big round calabash
Each cutting their various sizes to swallow
These children sitting round the evening Atupa
Only to hear tortoise stories and traditional
Beliefs and values
Mama continiously teaching them a lifetime morals
Planting in them the tree that withers never
This is exactly my village
Very tattered village with uncivilized inhabitants
.........my village now king's court
The home of the mighty and dignitaries
Its offsprings representing in all fields and countries
Smooth drive through roads with street lights
Ultra modern mansions and infrastructures
The centre of attractions for citizens and foreigners
Well equiped schools confusing mama to choose
This is my beloved village now
Where i was conceived, born and raised
Where i was humbly born with a wooden spoon
With boundless talents and intelligence
This village has brought forth great men
Successful and morally standard fellows
Submissive wives and loving husbands
Very examplary leaders and obedient followers
Ilara-mokin, ondo state, Nigeria
As small as you are, you have it all proudly
This is my root, my village
Ilara-mokin is the name
The proud home of superstars
