I RISE

The day was dawn on me
The sun came on me
The rain has fallen on me
Now the sun, slowly giving a way to the evening
Here I have been sitting
Eluded with gifts and talents so raw
My lips are dried away of my dreams
I sit here and speak to the sun and moon
Telling how lofty the dreams I have
The moon must have been tired listening to my stories
Of dreams never come true
The day keeps coming in and going away
My bones keep getting older and frail
Still unable to fulfill the mission
My passion lives here in my mouth
The vision gets blur each day
The older, the more, the prizes
Yet it’s only a life here
I can’t ask for more life
But I can ask for real grace
Now I rise
Now I go to ask the moon
Ask the stars, the sun
Even ask the birds
Because my place is up there
Up there where they live
I have been here for too long
Let me go ask and learn the way
I rise to go pay the prize
Now I quit the gaze
I want to run a race
